What this site provides

Informational content about fly fishing equipment and technique: gear comparisons, calculators, reference charts, complete equipment lists and how-to guides. It is general information for a general audience, and it is not professional instruction, coaching, guiding or safety training. It is not medical, legal or financial advice. Accuracy of published figures

Every specification quoted here is a manufacturer's published figure or a published industry standard unless stated otherwise. Manufacturers revise specifications between model years, discontinue and rename products, and occasionally publish figures that are wrong. Prices and availability are set entirely by the retailer and change constantly. We make no warranty that any figure, price or availability statement on this site is current or correct at the moment you read it, and you should confirm anything that matters to a purchase or to your safety on the manufacturer's or retailer's own current page.

Calculator results are estimates derived from published standards and stated assumptions. Some of those assumptions do not hold in the real world, and we say so on the pages concerned: sink rate multiplied by time gives a depth in still water and overstates depth in current, and knot strength percentages vary substantially by test protocol. Treat every result as a starting point for your own judgement.
