Prices, availability and shipping terms are set entirely by the retailer, not by us, and they change constantly, which is why every product block on this site tells you to confirm the price on the retailer's own page.

Which retailer leads, and why
This is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly, because you will notice it on every product block. Two buttons appear on most cards and which one comes first is not random.

We are also transparent about the consequence of that split, because it shapes the site. A page about tippet earns more over a season than a page about a rod does, since tippet is rebought several times a year and a rod is bought once. That is why consumable content here is written as main content rather than as an accessory afterthought, and it is a genuine commercial incentive you are entitled to know about.
What commissions do not change
- Which product wins. Every roundup is organised as beginner, intermediate and expert, and the beginner pick is frequently the one we tell most readers to buy, even though it pays the least.
- Whether we tell you to skip something. The expert build opens by telling most readers not to buy it. The beginner build tells you which lines to cut and how much that saves.
- Whether a link exists at all. Where a product genuinely has no listing worth sending you to, we link a scoped search or nothing rather than inventing a destination.
- The figures. Grain windows, tippet diameters, sink rates and warranty terms are manufacturer specifications and published standards. No commercial arrangement changes a number on this site.
What we do not do
We do not claim to have tested gear in person. We compare published manufacturer specifications, published industry standards and verified owner reviews across retailers, and that is stated on every article page. We do not accept payment for a specific verdict. We do not run sponsored posts that are not labelled as such. If a brand relationship exists on a given page beyond the standard affiliate programs above, it is disclosed on that page.
Sponsored and gifted items
If we ever receive a product at no cost, or are paid to feature something, that page will say so clearly and near the top rather than in a footer. As of publication, nothing on this site falls into that category. Everything named here was selected from publicly available listings.
